Created in 1963, this was France’s first national park, and it is overlooked by glaciers reaching altitudes of over 3,000m. The park shelters an amazing array of plants and animals, and you may well spot marmots, chamois, ibexes or even golden eagles.

With its 600 km of trails, the park is the perfect place to discover the bounties of nature during a ramble. Routes are signposted and there are shelters along the way to help you plan your ramble to suit your needs. Additionally, if you are not very familiar with the mountains, you have the option of engaging the services of a professional guide who will help you get a much better understanding of all of the park’s treasures.
